BCAF has been bringing a kaleidoscope of entertainment to Burbage for over ten years. Its mission is simply to bring the widest range of music, dance and the arts to the village. In recent years, the festival has grown to a solid week of events, that take place in late May. This celebration of the arts and entertainment is for you! Come and enjoy a night – or a week, even – to remember. We hope you enjoy this year’s program.

Tue 18th May Cinema Comes to Burbage

Themed afternoon and evening of film shows, including a “Town Like Alice”  and the original “Italian Job”and supporting cast of 1960’s Minis If you’ve had difficulties buying tickets for the Italian Job, we apologise; an earlier technical hitch with the online system is now fully resolved.

Just a few days to go – We are both delighted to announce that two events have now sold out, and yet saddened that some of you will now not be able to get in to these shows.  We hope that you will understand that we are constrained by the capacities of some of the venues in the village. For the comfort and safety of those who have already booked, we must draw, and have indeed now reached, a line.

Both The New Rope String Band (Sat 15th) and Alan Sanders’ 4+1 Jazz Band (Mon 17th) are now fully booked. Other events will surely follow. This news page will be kept up to date on the availability of tickets.

Still to book? Don’t leave it to chance – book now! Buy on line, and if there is insufficient time to send the tickets by post, we will confirm the position by email and hold the tickets for you on the door.

Or you would have done, if only you’d been able to buy tickets! We’ve just discovered a tiny fault with our “buy now” button for our film “The Italian Job”. It didn’t work. Now, THAT might explain why sales for this event were sluggish.

Creepy Crawlies? – Can’t Get Enough

For a bit of fun last year, and with only the most tenuous link to our core values of bringing music, dance and the arts to Burbage (like, that’s ever stopped us before!) we featured a presentation of live  “Animals of the Rain Forest” At Burbage Junior School. It sold out in an hour.  Knowing a good thing when we see it, we decide to run the show again, this year. It sold out in ten minutes.

Imagine the tears on all those little cherubs’ faces at the thought of NOT being able to take a tarantula home to frighten granny with, after all! It seemed like only civic duty, then, that we put on a second show this year. So, if you have children or grandchildren at Burbage Junior or any other school in the area for that matter, you might just want to double check the darker corners of their satchels when they get home from school on  BOTH the 19th and now 20th May…

Under One Month To Go!

Months of planning behind us, and we all feel we are now in the “calm before the storm” – but in a good way! Venues booked, Acts booked, Leaflets designed and printed (there are almost 5,000 of them out there somewhere…), Posters up, duty rotas for the events organised, and ticket sales well under way.

Art for Art’s Sake – and Why Not?

In something of a return to our roots, we are featuring an Arts Exhibition/Show this year, for the first time in some years. We are really excited by the take-up of 15 no, make that 16 (and rising)  local artists already, and we have overflowed our original venue of the Weslyan Chapel (off Windsor St)  and now also include the small hall, adjacent.  Entry is FREE. Come along on Saturday 22 May, and see what local artists of many disciplines have to offer.

For the first time in BCAF’s History, we are now able to offer tickets for BCAF2010 on line. Payment is simple, safe and secure. You can pay online via Paypal or credit card (you don’t need a Paypal account). We have been surprised by the uptake already.

But if online ordering is not for you, you can still buy tickets from either Three Pots or Burbage Village post offices, or through the post, from the information contained in the printed programme.

Jeff, John & Natalie took over the Cross Keys in July 2009 and since then have made considerable improvements to the beer quality & choice, they also continue to restore the interior to its former glory.
