BCAF earns the “A” in its name by featuring an exhibition of a selection of arts and craft items made by local artists and craftspeople. Including jewellery, ceramics, handmade cards and much more.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to both browse and  purchase a unique piece of work as a gift or as a special treat for yourself!!

Already we have EIGHTEEN exhibitors (and still growing). So much so, in fact,  that we have already outgrown our original venue. The show will now feature in BOTH the Wesleyan chapel, AND the hall, adjacent to the chapel itself. The list of exhibitors so far already includes:

  • Handmade Fairies, Butterflies and Flowers by Linda Hartlett

  • Printing, Reusable Cotton Bags, Silver Jewellery by Tammy Kingdon

Tammy takes her inspiration from nature and its unique artistic outcomes. For this reason, there are no straight lines in her work and no two pieces are the same. She feels that there are too many interesting combinations of pattern and colour to waste time duplicating pieces of art. This applies to all of her work, even the reusable cotton bags, so you can rest assured you are buying a unique piece.

Tammy has an eye for the effect that nature has on objects and this has been the inspiration behind her jewelery – incorporating found objects such as sea glass and fossils for example. She aims to produce work that lasts at least a lifetime, so  produces pieces that are environmentally sound using top quality materials.

  • Abstract Paintings on Canvas by Amelia Kirkham

  • Handmade Felt by Louisa Jackson

Fascinated with colour from an early age, Louisa discovered felt-making a few years ago and has been hooked ever since. It is a complex process, from the design and laying out of individual wool fibres to the beautiful, tactile finished fabric, through the addition of water, soap and a lot of hard work!

Inspiration comes from the changing colours of the seasons, the flowers in the garden, and the sea. No two pieces are ever exactly the same and Louisa has developed many different products from seamless bags, stunning flower corsages and items for the home to smaller gift items such as lavender bags, needle cases and brooches – hopefully something for everyone.
